Insightful article Rob. My thoughts:
"Diversify or be left behind". It is going to be more about the value that a company can offer through its brand without compromising choice, green issues and, in the case of Aston Martin Lagonda, that something a little bit special that it has traditionally offered. Look at the rise of the Hyundai brand in the last decade; from a little known Korean manufacturer to a well positioned global market leader in high value mid-range cars with a brand slogan of 'prepare to want one'. This is a big test of the strength of the Aston Martin marque in an ever-increasing cost-conscious global marketplace. Aston Martin will lose fans in the shrinking luxury market but gain it in more accessible markets; those wanting their own 'Bond' car.

I wished you asked David why he does not offer and paid holidays to his employees? Even Christmas is not a paid holiday.

Also curious why there is no sick time allowed.

Rob,

My sense is that in those circumstances where you can combine "green" messaging with a compelling value/cost proposition that is backed by valid research data, the combination is very powerful. I'd be interested in knowing your experience in this regard. Pete

Some great points here Rob, with some definite take away "highlights". With so much information available the population are in a state of analysis paralysis, not knowing which Green idea is the one for them.

I like the way you've presented this piece and look forward to your next insights. As a fan of the UK Bad Science website (http://www.badscience.net/forum/) this level of discussion and open handed fact giving are very interesting to me.

Interesting thoughts - I agree it's a huge gamble for a company so well known for such incredible luxury. Only time will tell!
